As we drive through Moldova we are amazed at how beautiful the countryside is in the spring. There are so many wild flowers blooming everywhere. The hills are covered either in yellow or deep green. We have enjoyed spring after a cold dreary winter!
We have been called to serve in the Romania Bucharest Mission for 18 months. Fred's primary assignment will be to labor with Welfare Services as the Country Director, and I will be his assistant. We will be working in Moldova, a small country next to Romania. We are to report to the Missionary Training Center at Provo, Utah on Monday December 1, 2008. We will fly to Salt Lake on November 29, 2008. We are excited about our assignment, and ready for an adventure.
Fred and Rodna have lived in Houston all of their married life. Fred retired from the Space Shuttle Program in 2007. Rodna has never retired, she just went from 'Mom' to 'Nanna'. She did retire from Group Photography Studio in 2005, but she is still "Mom" to 5 grown children and 10 grandchildren. Fred and Rodna have planned and looked forward to serving a mission together for a long time. They will realize that long awaited adventure as they depart for the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah November 29, 2008.
